Prayer For The Mind

I oftentimes find that my mind wants to go in a lot of different directions and distracting thoughts can threaten to interfere with my prayers and my life in general. I like to think of the mind as a city, it has citizens (thoughts, feelings, emotions) that all must work together in consultation with the elders (reason, prudence, wisdom) with one accord and in peace for the city to prosper. Its walls must be patrolled and fortified from invaders (distractions, spiritual attacks and insinuating thoughts) for the city to remain secure. All things have to work together in harmony for the mind to function properly. Moreover the mind of a Christian is a city of God and therefore is a theocracy, all things must be done with the counsel of the Lord Christ and for his purposes for the city and its citizens to be blessed and prosperous. Therefore, I have composed this prayer for myself and others to strengthen our minds.

The Mind of Christ
Lord Jesus Christ I pray that I be transformed by the renewing of the spirit of my mind in you so that I am not conformed to this world, but rather that I have the mind of Christ. Lord, you are not the author of confusion but of peace and so I pray that the peace of the Lord Jesus Christ reign over my mind in its fullness. May the walls of my mind be fortified by your word and may the Holy Spirit set a watch over them so that nothing of the Adversary may find entrance. Lord I pray you use the sword of the Spirit to sever from my mind all that is ungodly, unrighteous and unholy. May there be no division within me. Rather, may I be of one heart and one mind and all parts of my being of one accord, dedicated and consecrated to the Lord Jesus Christ and built upon him as the foundation and cornerstone of my life. May my mind be a citadel, an impregnable fortress, of God. Amen.
