Isaiah 26:3
You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You
I believe, as the verse says, that a Trust in God and Peace goes hand-in hand. That as we lift up God in our prayers each morning, Peace can then be an anchor or sorts to keep us grounded. And as this verse in Isaiah says He will keep us in perfect peace as we meditate on Him throughout our day and from our experiences in life—we have learned to trust Christ.
Christ Promises us His perfect Peace here before He left this earth at the Last Supper.
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Looking to Concordances for the word Peace in this situation and this particular verse and others in the NT---- Christ is very unique in His Peace as the Greek word "peace" adds the definition “set at one again”. Something that only Christ can do to bring us to find that perfect Peace. For anyone who wants to study it further, it is Strong’s 1515--Εἰρήνην (Eirēnēn)—I-ray-nay.
I believe this is what Isaiah prophesied about as that perfect peace, and is what all Believers should desire in their lives. With the Holy Spirit of Christ the He sends, we have no excuse for desiring anything else.
I was, in my early life a very nervous child. I developed ulcers at an early age and it was when I was 12 and in the early 1960’s, they used to operate on the stomach. Essentially the surgeon cut out the ulcerated parts of the stomach and cut the nerve that produced stomach acid. Now we have over-the counter medications like Tagamet and Pepcid to alleviate the problems. So, I suppose it was natural that I would seek this peace.
Even earlier in my life at possibly age 6, I had a small seed planted in me at a Vacation Bible school where I first learned Psalm 23 and the bolded part of it was what I have remembered all these years since.
Psalm 23
23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
You see, I grew up in a false Religion and God was to eventually bring me out to find the True Christ who offers these green pastures and still waters I could lie beside and be set at one again.
Christ causes the increase eventually in my life as I immediately remembered the word of this Psalm at age 40 when I lost my only son, And He caused a huge “hunger for His Word” in me that has lasted for around 25 years now.
