We so often hear of a gospel of salvation. A different gospel than the Gospel of the Kingdom? That would explain why a religion called Christianity was formed where within denominations could focus on their own brand of salvation rather than putting the will of God before our own, thus loving all as self.
The latter is easy for the servant and slave but not so for those who have power, wealth, or oppress in the world of man, seeking gain at the expense of others. They instead prefer the salvation gospel. The Gospel of the Kingdom had become a stumbling block.
The gospel of salvation alone (which is only part of the whole Gospel) lets them have it both ways, but that is not the will of God, but simply typical human redefinition of good and evil to suit their needs.
