Okay time for a small ramble........

It's Christmas again for those living under rocks. At this time of year I always think of Christ for some reason, and this is the unresearched unqualified, unsolicited, unintelligible results of those ruminations.

Christ was born about 2000... years ago to a virgin who by that society's rules could have been stoned to death, but because of God's intervention her husband to be, took her as his wife regardless thus sanctifying her in the eyes of that society. Christ's birth place was with the live stock on the family property, a rather good place for privacy reasons. God in doing this emptied himself as his son of all that made him God in our eyes, knowing full well that that was not the only price he was going to have to pay. And all of this and much more were fulfillment of thousands of years of prophecy and waiting.

Christ entered our world knowing that he would be the least of men, that even his best friends wouldn't understand him, that the teachers who should have recognised him and embraced him were going to have him killed. God sent his son knowing all of this as well. Now the real question is, as great as Christ's sacrifice was, and it was unspeakably great, was not God's sacrifice at least as much, if not more? I mean it's one thing to sacrifice your self willingly, it's quite another to watch the son you love brutally beaten, hung on a cross like a criminal and, to bring even greater indignity by seeing him have all the sin, all the vileness, all the wickedness heaped upon him and having to turn your eyes way from your beloved son as he cries your name pleading for you to look at him, knowing also most of the people he gave himself is such a way for would reject the gift so dearly paid for.

I see say that Christ's sacrifice was not the only great one some 2000 years ago.
