  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

New school year

Kids have been back in school for two weeks now. My youngest just started middle school. He is having some trouble adjusting. He has ADHD, and the accommodations that were set at the end of 5th grade aren't working for 6th grade, so we have a meeting scheduled to re-do them. I hope it gets scheduled quickly, because he's getting pretty frustrated.

The IEP for my oldest is also up for it's annual review in a couple of weeks. Last year, it took all school year for them to re-evaluate, analyze and determine if he should stay on the learning disability track or move to the autism track (diagnosed last summer). It was determined in April that he should stay on the disability track because he presents no behavior problems in school. That's because we've been on medications to help handle anger issues. Due to side effects I am looking at making some adjustments, which may lead to him having some behavior issues in school. I want to make sure they are prepared for that.

In September, my oldest and I are going on a mission trip together, and I'm very excited about that. We will be serving families who are dealing with pediatric cancer. My son loves working with younger children, so this is a way for him to serve God doing something that he loves.
