Muhammadun used to refer to the Lord as "the praised one"

During and before muhammad's hijra (migration to medina), coins were minted bearing the cross on one side and mhmd مهمد on the other. Is this irrefutable proof that the word muhammadun means "praised man of god" which could only be the Christ? (muslims cannot praise a mere man)
