How is your level of Christian faith measured when factoring in chronic mental illness ? Illness created through a long history of abuse etc ? Since it is ( emphasis IT IS) an illness, like any other illness, not a weakness of the heart or mind, aren't such Christians under grace ? Forgiveness through their biological inability to cure thyself ?? Like cancer it is not feasible to cure thyself. Of course God can cure. But if it's your cross to bear, indeed you are forgiven through grace. Of course, mental illness must be real, not imagined or "latched unto" for convenience sake. I am definitely aware of my mental illness. Yet I am also aware of "paths" available to lessen my illness. To ignore those paths .... That I would consider illogical and possibly sin. A toughie. Ya can't measure mental illness. It's an inner knowing that only YOU know for sure. From experience, psychiatry is a guessing game. A dart board of treatments. Only YOU know for sure. Seek information. Go into prayer. Ask God for intervention. A toughie.
