With outstretched arms and warm embrace
Greeted this varied throng
The room took on an air of grace
Amidst their joyous song
To worship God they sought to meet
From near and far off lands
Strangers came one, at Jesus feet
With bibles in their hands
One black, one yellow, numerous white
Praising in one accord
Praying together within plain sight
Of Christ their risen Lord
When all in turn their places took
Within that room of light
Discussion of their favoured book
Began with such delight
God’s testing; was the chosen theme
Then faith was brought to bear
Smiles gave way to thoughtful beam
As each brought forth their share
A wink, a nod, the odd surprise
A shuffle here and there
As revelations opened eyes
As thoughts embraced the air
Eager fingers would pages turn
Through questions, where and why
And each from each began to learn
As each received from high
New vigour filled these chosen few
New strength flowed through The Vine
They saw once more God’s Word is true
