God knows how to use rebellious man for His own purposes, which He has done and still does. There was a movement which was to represent an opposite way to the ways of man. Once upon a time in the fourth century, a power hungry faction of the movement whored itself to the ways of man and eventually become an institution of man itself. Plain and simply, this was treachery.
This rebellion could however be used by God for the purpose of forwarding scripture, which unlike the doctrines of man, remained focused upon His Kingdom. The religious institution created however, did not. It went from Jesus' good news of the coming Kingdom/governance of God over man, to being all about what was in it for us. Man has a habit of neglecting God in order to make everything about self, just as the scriptures show about us from beginning to end.
