  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This article reminds me of the US elections in which there was a Republican rout, of sorts.

I would recommend that this article be considered.

More practically, regarding the GOP, I would recommend that they seek to send their authority down the line as much as possible. That is governors to mayors, and then as a group demand that power be sent down the line from Washington to the state level, hopefully also moving the tax burden down the line, and resulting in a cleaner slate.

We often forget that there is a command chain alway present in human communities. We need those over the 100s, the 1000s, ..., the 1,000,000s, etc. A complaint lodged against the one in charge of the 10,000,000s should be regarded as one that reached all the way down the line, where ever possible.

If the GOP does this, there will always, always, be an opportunity for them to win the White House.

Give us a robust main street, and a streamlined federal government that is met across the world, filling the world with actual moral authority, and trembling.
