I recently applied for a job...

I've been doing this a lot lately, looking for a job. Times are tough and pastors' pay isn't all that great, even with the master's degree.

At any rate, I applied for a word processing job. Pay was adequate, although well under what I am used to getting paid. But hey, we figured a bit of "mad money" would be nice.

Today I got an email from the company stating that they believed me to be overqualified and they were looking for someone with LESS qualifications.

Really now.

If I wasn't willing to take a $10/hour paycut (based on previous job salaries), I wouldn't have applied for the job.

I've never understood being denied a job because I'm over-qualified. This is TWICE now that it's happened. It's really frustrating too because I KNOW I'm over-qualified for the job. But I'm not qualified ENOUGH for the jobs I really want. (Stupid college degree)

I hope I find that happy medium soon - find that company that will hire me because I've got mad skillz or whatever and then pay me what I'm actually worth.

Oy.
