How to Read the Bible
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
I want to show you a couple ways how the Bible is actually broke down. Hopefully this will help you understand how to study your Bible better. First I want to stress how important it is to be saved by the Grace of God before trying to read your Bible. Before I was saved I had no clue what I was reading. Once I trusted Christ as my saviour I was filled with the Holy Spirit and could actually understand what I was reading. Then later I learned something else, the Bible is not in chronological order. So below I will brake down the Bible, and I pray that those who read this through the Holy Spirit, prayer and some knowledge you will be on your way to understanding the greatest book in the world. Gods word the Bible. A good study Bible is also very helpfull.

English Bible Translation History
From 450 A.D. - 1100 A.D. we know of at least ten English Bible translators. The main three wereCaedmon who died in 680, Bede who died in 735 and Alfred king of England 871-901. You then have John Wycliffe (1320-1384), who was the first to translate the entire Bible. It wasn’t until another 145 years before another English Bible translation.Tyndale’s Version (1525) was translated while he was in constant Danger. The Catholic Emperor Charles V made it punishable by death to posses, or read a New Testament book. The death was things like being buried alive, or burnt at the stake. He produced around 50,000 copies before his martyrdom.
The CoverdaleVersion (1535) came from Latin, German and English Version’s, because Coverdale could not translate Greek and Hebrew. Coverdale’s Version was the first entire printed English Bible. The first edition was published on October 4, 1535. In 1537 you have a revision of the Tyndale’s which is called the Matthew Version. TheGreat Bible Version (1539) got its name from its size. Henry VIII authorized this Bible because of the controversial footnotes in the Tyndale’s and Coverdale’s translations. The Great Bible became the first official English Bible.
The Geneva Version (1557) was the Bible the pilgrims brought over on the mayflower. John Calvin’s brother-in-law translated the scriptures. This version was based from the Great Bible, but was the first to separate the text into verses, and omit the Apocrypha. TheBishop’s Bible (1568) was basically created because the Church of England disliked the Geneva Version. The Pope tried to win England back with The Rheims-Douai Bible. The Pope failed. This was the first Catholic English version that supported the Roman Catholic practices, and doctrines.
King Jamesannounced on July 22, 1604 that he had appointed 54 men as Bible translators. The men were great Hebrew and Greek scholars of their time. They were put into six groups. They all met in different places, to translate different parts of the Bible. They went through a very extensive series of steps to complete the translation. The King James Bible published in 1611 was translated from Old Testament Hebrew and New Testament Greek. The parties involved in this translation had one agenda, produce the best English Version of scripture. It was the most popular, and beautiful Bible of that time. It took some 40 years before it became accepted and became more popular than the Geneva Bible. It has kept a big lead since then.
