“A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell into the hands of robbers, who both stripped him and beat him. After inflicting blows on him, they went away, leaving him half dead. Now by coincidence a certain priest was going down on that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the opposite side. And in the same way also a Levite, when he came down to the place and saw him, passed by on the opposite side. But a certain Samaritan who was traveling came up to him and, when he saw him, had compassion. And he came up and bandaged his wounds, pouring olive oil and wine, and he put him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. And on the next day, he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, and said, “Take care of him, and whatever you spend in addition, I will repay to you when I return.”

Our neighbor is anyone who is in need and not to turn a blind eye to. There are many who are in need: elderly, those who fall victim, the poor, etc.
In a very similar way, Christ did exactly that for the whole world that they might believe in Him. God saw how helpless and hopeless we all were, stuck in sin with no way out. Father God then sent His Son to die in our place by becoming sin and a curse for us. We didn’t ask for a Saviour being blind in our own sin, but God had compassion on us the same way the Good Samaritan had on the person who was robbed in His parable.
Small Testimony
We, as Christians, can pass on this Good Samaritan grace in other ways as well. Recently a Christian Penpal has become in need of much prayer for a situation he is in. Even our Christian brothers and sisters are our neighbor. Likewise are those who don’t know God at all, but share the Gospel to. I have a non-Christian friend that I am witnessing to, I certainly hope her heart will one day listen to the Power of God’s Word. Even just giving an encouraging word can uplift a brother or sister in Christ during their time of need.
In one way or another, we are all in need of Christ every day. We need Him for strength, endurance and life in Him. Without Jesus there is nothing we can do apart from Him. We are incredibly weak to the flesh, so we need Him to help us every step of the Way, living in Truth and Light.
