My ex is an unbeliever, though he was raised Catholic. Since our divorce, my kids have taken to using his house as a retreat from their birth home in the country (where there are chores and slow internet). I understand their position.
But what I will not tolerate is that our government gives children a 'right' to decide where they want to live at 14! So my 14 year old knows that when I give him a chore or tell him he has to go to church, he can seek refuge at his dad's where there is no accountability! This is frustrating for a mom who has given her young adult life to rear her children!
Today I decided with righteous indignation that if he is not going to mind my most important rule which is merely to attend church every other week, he will not be allowed to come back home to the house he was born.
Sad the times we live in.
