Full of Confidence

Proverbs 31:11

Her husband has full confidence and lacks nothing of value.

Oh what a beautiful thing to say! I would love for my future husband to have full confidence in me, especially when I don’t have full confidence in myself. Will I need to have full confidence in myself before I get married? I sure hope not, that sounds like a lifetime battle.
Because every woman is different and every man is different and every marriage is different, there is no way to define this exactly. However, a good place to start is to let him know that when things may be getting a little rocky for him, you are there to be his strength. That is what a team does right?
I’d like to take a look at one of my favorite football players (and my pretend future husband) Tim Tebow. For anyone who has heard anything about his professional career there is a lot of talk about his throwing motion. It’s a bit odd and is less effective than Peyton Manning, but most quarterbacks are less effective than Peyton Manning. Tebow is a scrambling QB. He likes to run out of the pocket and wiggle around and look for the open man or run for the first himself. For his good teammates, they will block for him when he is looking for a receiver or when he has made the decision to run. Bad teammates, question his effectiveness in public. Now lets say the Tebow is your husband and you are the rest of the team. Who would you rather be?
Personally I would rather be one of the guys blocking. I want to support my husband and be there when he needs me. I would like for him to know that I will not put all of our issues out in the world to see the dysfunction in our locker room. A man should trust his wife and have full confidence in her.
He “lacks nothing of value.” A wife is to be second in her husband’s eyes only behind the Lord. I think that race sounds a little tough to be a part of but, what a magical responsibility. Behind God, you are the provider of all the things he needs. No matter what is: support, a shoulder to lean on, a hot meal at the end of the day, clean clothes, and well-behaved nuggets. There is a lot that a wife must do.
I often think about what kind of wife I would like to be and of course Proverbs 31 comes to mind. It seems like it would be so difficult to be this for my future husband. But then I remember that God is in control and wont give me a terrible husband that won’t compliment me correctly. Marriage is a team. God made woman to be a help to man. He will not give a man I cant help. I just have to relax and be the best I can be and wait until God thinks that I am ready.

Dear Lord,
Please help me to see the ways of being a proper Proverbs 31 woman when the time comes. I would love for my husband to have full confidence in me and lack nothing of value.
Thank you for your blessings
Amen
