Yesterday, I blogged about my best friend, and after I was done, I felt like I needed to include God as my best friend too. He has been there for me since the day I was born; much longer than my other best friend. I love God simply put. He loves me too, and I never have to doubt His love for me. I never have to be scared that He will leave me. People will fail me, and they are human, so if they get angry, there's a chance they will leave. This is not true with God; he saved me, and Deuteronomy 31:6 says "So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the LORD your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you." God will go ahead of me and prepare the way for me to follow Him through the craziness called my life. He does things my best friend on earth can't do. If my friend tried to clear the way for my life, he will just get into my addictions. The Bible, however; said "Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, 'I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.'" (John 8:12) My crazy life is full of darkness that I can't escape on my own. If I trust God and LET Him be the light for my life, I can get through it. I said "let Him" because on a flashlight or lamp, you have to be the one to make the decision to turn on the light. If you don't want the light, you won't turn it on; instead you will try to lead yourself through the darkness. I try to imagine it this way; imagine you are in a dark room; pitch black. You don't know what's around you, so you feel your way around, what you don't know is that the room is full of sharp and dangerous objects. But if you turn on a light upon entry, you will be able to see and maneuver your way around the objects safely. It was your ignorance or humbleness that led you to the decision to go it alone, or turn on a light. It works similarly with God, it is YOUR ignorance or humbleness that leads you to or away from Him. He will be disappointed in you if you try to go alone, but He will let you go until you hurt yourself and hit rock-bottom until you decide to rely on Him. Another visual/story is: There was a man walking along a beach and he was walking with God. He saw that there were two sets of footprints in the sand until one point. The man angrily asked God, "Why did you let me walk alone here, it was a horrible time for me; how could you?" God said back, "Those are my footprints from when I carried you." This applies to the light because yes, it is our choice to turn on the light, and when we turn it on, we can see God guiding us. We are never alone when we are with our best friend; God.
