Fever

I touch her forehead
Hot from the fire within
Burns like a bonfire
Set sail with the wind

Sleeping angel at battle
with cheeks that burn red
A blanketed fragility
Spread upon too large a bed

Fluttering eyes barely open
To the sense of a cool hand
Offering up a weak smile
I wonder, when will she land

As she drifts off once again
