"Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—making the most of the time, because the days are evil. So don't be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is" (Ephesians 5:15-17, CSB).
"...let everyone who calls on the name of the Lord turn away from wickedness" (2nd Timothy 2:19, CSB).
Time is much too precious to waste. But how do we waste it?
We waste time when we are preoccupied with our own pleasures and desires, even when we feel they are justified. Anything in our lives that stops us putting Christ first will cause us to waste valuable time.
But worse still, if we waste time by wilfully sinning against God we set ourselves directly against Him. By our thoughts, words and actions we make light of the terrible price Jesus paid on the cross to save us from our sinful condition.
We do not know when our lives will end. But we can be sure that we must pass through death and appear at the judgement seat of Christ. On that final day we will all give an account of how we spent our time.
Each new day is an opportunity to use our time wisely. Now is the time to put Him first and turn away from sin.
