Decluttering Our Lives

Do I really need that extra pair of pants? I wonder that some of our mental health issues aren't solved to some extent by just cleaning up.
And by cleaning up, I also mean getting rid of stuff. Extra clothes. Books. And so on. But how about this? Get rid of your car? Your phone? Your TV? Your computer? Technology in general?
Isnt technology contributing to our general malaise?
I was talking to a teacher the other day. He said "These kids spend half their day on lap tops at school then go home and spend more time on screens. Too much time looking at screens. I think my childhood was blessed. I spent time outside playing sports, climbing trees, riding bikes and other games. I read books too. Fiction mainly. I think my life was relatively uncluttered then.
You know I could live without my phone. I really could. it would mean less contact with people but so what!
Doesn't God want us to live uncluttered lives? So we can focus more on Him?
