Biblical Chronology (part 1)

Continuing from the introduction I'd like us to explore the question, 'How much time did God allot for the world?' After this I will break down time according to God's Word which will be key to getting a full understanding of why and how God ordered time.

God made two special trees amongst all of the other trees in the garden of Eden:

"And the YHWH God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground made the YHWH God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil."
-Genesis 2:8-9

Of these two trees in the midst of the garden God told Adam to stay away from one:

"And the YHWH God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And the YHWH God commanded the man, saying, 'Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.'"
-Genesis 2:15-17

And how old was Adam when he died?

"And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died."
-Genesis 5:5

Since God said that Adam would die in the day he ate of the forbidden fruit, and he died seventy years short of one thousand years:

1 Great Day = 1,000 Years

And the great days are represented by the days of the week: meaning that each day of the week represents an age of one thousand years therefore:

7 Great Days × 1,000 Years = 7,000 Years
...this means that God has ordained seven thousand years for the world to exist.

As we know from Genesis 1:1-2:3 there are seven days in a week: this is important as the weekly cycle sets the pace for the whole year. For in order to make it to the fifty secondth week we must make it through the first week; and in order to make it to the seventh day of the week we must make it through the first day of the week. We see then that the week is the foundation upon which the days of the year are built.

With the days of the week being of such importance we may say that they are great days while the days of the year are lesser days. Proof of this is in the creation account for when God counts the days of the week He never classifies them as being for days and years as He does for the days of the year on the fourth day of the week (see Genesis 1:14-18 cf. vv. 5, 8, 13, 19, 23, and 31). Moses relates to us that 1 Day = Evening and Morning; and that the Day is the time when light is present; and the Night is when light is absent (vv. 3-4). Thus far we also have revealed to us that there are two times when it is neither day nor night (i.e. twilight):

1) Between the mornings.
2) Between the evenings.

1) is the time when the light has not completely appeared, and the darkness has not completely disappeared. 2) is when the light has not completely disappeared, and the darkness has not completely appeared. We also see that the day has four divisions:

1) Morning
2) Noon
3) Afternoon
4) Evening

God ordered it this way because morning is the appearance of light while the evening is the disappearance of light. We may conclude then from Genesis 1:1 that God began all things in the day. But, morning and evening could not be established until after God created the darkness and called the light, and separated them from one another (vv. 2-5). Nehemiah understood this as well:

"And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of the YHWH their God one fourth part of the day; and another fourth part they confessed, and worshipped the YHWH their God."
-Nehemiah 9:3

And we know that Jesus understood this as well when He spoke to the apostles:

"Jesus answered, 'Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.'"
-John 11:9

And we may divide the day into four parts with twelve hours of light; and the night into four parts with twelve hours of darkness:

"Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?
Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?"

-Job 38:31-32

"And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the YHWH looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,"
-Exodus 14:24

"And it was so on the morrow, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the host in the morning watch, and slew the Ammonites until the heat of the day: and it came to pass, that they which remained were scattered, so that two of them were not left together."
-1 Samuel 11:11

"And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea."
-Matthew 14:25

"And He saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night He cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them."
-Mark 6:48

"And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants."
-Luke 12:38

The first passage indicates that the Mazzaroth (i.e. twelve constellations) all take turns rotating in the night sky: therefore making the darkness last twelve hours; and the other passages indicate that the ancient Israelites broke up their guards among the four watches during the day and during the night.

The first two days of creation look like this:

{Light, Darkness, Light}

|M......E|N........N|M......E|
|Day 01|Night 01|Day 02|

_____________________________
Morning > Evening = Day 01
_____________________________
Night > Night = Night 01
_____________________________
Morning > Evening = Day 02

Doing the math we see:

1 Day = 12 Hours = 4 Divisions × 3 Hours

...and when we divide the day into three we have...

1 Day = 18 Parts = 3 Divisions × 6 Parts

...and when we divide the day into nine we have...

1 Day = 36 Moments = 9 Divisions × 4 Moments

This is true because if we were to draw a half circle and divide it into four equal parts we would have four sets of three hours (1/4th; 1/12th); and if we took that same half circle and divided it into three equal parts that would cause our original twelve parts to be broken up into three sets of six parts (i.e. 1/6th; 1/18th); and lastly if we took that same half circle again and divided it into nine parts that would yield nine sets of four moments (i.e. 1/9th; 1/36th).

And now we must find out how many days there are in a year. To do that we turn to the story of Noah. He was six hundred years old when he entered the ark in the seventeenth day of the second month (Genesis 7:6, 11); and he was six hundred and one years old when he exited the ark in the twenty seventh day of the second month (Genesis 8:4):

Noah 600 17th Day 2nd Month - Entered Ark
Noah 601 27th Day 2nd Month - Exited Ark
Noah 601 01 Year 00 Months 10 Days

And we know from the seventeenth day of the second month to the seventeenth day of the seventh month that one hundred and fifty days passed: thus making each month thirty days (Genesis 7:24; 8:3):

150 Days ÷ 5 Months = 30 Days per Month
30 Days × 12 Months = 360 Days per Year

The surplus of ten days of the sun is due to the fact that the moon falls behind the sun every year therefore:

Sun 360 Days + 10 Days Moon 350 Days
______________ - 10 Days______ + 10 Days
Sun 360 Days___________Moon 360 Days

The months would look as follows:

Month 01
01 02 03 04 05 06 07
_________ 01 02 03 04 (Week 01)
05 06 07 08 09 10 11 (Week 02)
12 13 14 15 16 17 18 (Week 03)
19 20 21 22 23 24 25 (Week 04)
26 27 28 29 30______

Month 02
01 02 03 04 05 06 07
________________01 02 (Week 01)
03 04 05 06 07 08 09 (Week 02)
10 11 12 13 14 15 16 (Week 03)
17 18 19 20 21 22 23 (Week 04)
24 25 26 27 28 29 30 (Week 05)

Month 03
01 02 03 04 05 06 07
01 02 03 04 05 06 07 (Week 01)
08 09 10 11 12 13 14 (Week 02)
15 16 17 18 19 20 21 (Week 03)
22 23 24 25 26 27 28 (Week 04)
29 30 31____________

The above shows that each season has alternating weeks of {4, 5, 4} which gives us a sum of fifty two weeks per year therefore:

7 Days × 52 Weeks = 364 Days per Year

The reason for these four extra days is due to the four divisions of the year which are not reckoned during the year but, at the end of the year. And because God created the sun as the greater light God's calendar is solar; and that the plant life sprung forth from the ground a day before the luminaries were created makes spring the first season and the time of the spring equinox. The four divisions can be found at:

1) 01st Day of the 01st Month
2) 01st Day of the 04th Month
3) 01st Day of the 07th Month
4) 01st Day of the 10th Month

1) 31st Day of the 03rd Month
(Summer Solstice)
2) 31st Day of the 06th Month
(Fall Equinox)
3) 31st Day of the 09th Month
(Winter Solstice)
4) 31st Day of the 12th Month
(Spring Equinox)

01) 30 Days
02) 30 Days
03) 30 Days + 1 Day
04) 30 Days
05) 30 Days
06) 30 Days + 1 Day
07) 30 Days
08) 30 Days
09) 30 Days + 1 Day
10) 30 Days
11) 30 Days
12) 30 Days + 1 Day

The division of the twelve hours day into four parts reflects the division of the year of twelve months into four seasons: and this is reflected by Jacob who bore twleve sons between his four wives; and this is repeated when God had the Israelites divide their twelve camps into a four way cross formation; and king David and, king Solomon numbered their twleve officers after the number of the months of the year which were numbered after sons of Israel (see Genesis 29:31-30:24; 35:16-18 cf. Numbers 2, 1 Kings 4:7-19, 1 Chronicles 27:1-15). To find how many minutes there are in an hour we add the number of sunrises and sunsets every two months:

01&02) 30 + 30 = 60
03&04) 30 + 30 = 60
05&06) 30 + 30 = 60
07&08) 30 + 30 = 60
09&10) 30 + 30 = 60
11&12) 30 + 30 = 60

The above shows that as far as the heavenly circuit of the luminaries are concerned, they travel from east to west and exit and enter from six doors on either side: which explains the twelve months. And this stays consistent with the circumference of the circle which is:

360° Degrees = 60° Degrees × 6 Doors
360° Degrees = 30° Degrees × 12 Months

(Spring)
01&02) 30 + 30 = 60 Minutes + 4 Minutes = 64
02&03) 30 + 30 = 60 Minutes + 4 Minutes = 68
03&04) 30 + 30 = 60 Minutes + 4 Minutes = 72

(Summer)
04&05) 30 + 30 = 60 Minutes - 4 Minutes = 68
05&06) 30 + 30 = 60 Minutes - 4 Minutes = 64
06&07) 30 + 30 = 60 Minutes - 4 Minutes = 60

(Fall)
07&08) 30 + 30 = 60 Minutes - 4 Minutes = 56
08&09) 30 + 30 = 60 Minutes - 4 Minutes = 52
09&10) 30 + 30 = 60 Minutes - 4 Minutes = 48

(Winter)
10&11) 30 + 30 = 60 Minutes + 4 Minutes = 52
11&12) 30 + 30 = 60 Minutes + 4 Minutes = 56
12&01) 30 + 30 = 60 Minutes + 4 Minutes = 60

The sun determines that the year is base three hundred and sixty days per year; and the day is base sixty minutes per hour. Just as the four intercalary days are added to the days of the year: so too are four minutes each month added or subtracted throughout the year to lengthen or shorten the hours of daylight and darkness.

With the evidence so far we know time is divided into two major parts which may be broken down into smaller parts:

Heavenly Time
1 Year = Revolution of Sun, Moon and stars
1 Year = 360° Degrees
1 Great Day = 1,000 Years
1 Day = 1° Degree
1 Day = Morning to Evening
1 Day = 1 Period of Light
1 Day = Sunrise to Sunset
1 Night = 1 Period of Darkness
1 Night = Moonrise to Moonset
1 Night = 12 Stars' Revolution

Earthly Time
1 Year = 4 Seasons
1 Year = 12 Months
1 Year = 52 Weeks
1 Year = 360 Days + 4 Intercalary Days
1 Day = 4 Divisions
1 Day = 12 Hours
1 Day = 18 Parts
1 Day = 36 Moments
1 Night = 4 Watches
1 Night = 12 Hours

Brothers and sisters please do not be weary in hearing what I'm sharing with you as the Holy Spirit has revealed the truth unto me. Unless Wisdom has guided me I would know none of the things I'm sharing now. In the next blog entry of this series I will apply what has been shown here to the biblical text to prove the truth of the matter. Let us meditate on the words of Isaiah the prophet:

"Whom shall He teach knowledge? And whom shall He make to understand doctrine? Them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: for with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom He said, 'This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing': yet they would not hear. But the word of the YHWH was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken."
-Isaiah 28:10-13

What wise counsel from the prophet. In order for us to begin ready for meat (i.e. knowledge) we must first drink milk (humility) and be weaned off our mother's breasts. Before a house can be built the foundation must be laid: if it is made of sand then the house and foundation will be destroyed and we must start over again; but, if the foundation is rock then the house will stand; but, if the house collapses but the foundation remains then the house was poorly built and must be built properly in order to stand. Let us not be like our ancestors who refused such wise counsel and instruction from God.
