The quilting group I belong to has been working on a project with a local elementary school to make quilts. The students and staff were each to create a design on an 8 inch white square with a message for an injured soldier. Then we took the squares and made them into quilts. There were 21 classes and 21 quilts. Each class had a quilt that incorporated their squares plus some squares from the staff members. They turned out great! I made 2 of the quilts for the school. These are the quilts I made.
On Friday night, the city here has an art walk and so we had the school quilts displayed on the walk. They were hung at an old train station, outside under the overhang. It was an awesome display. This is a picture of the display.
The next day (Saturday), the quilts went to a local fair in the town where the school is located to be displayed there. Each class was photographed with their quilt, and a letter with each child's signature and a picture of them with their quilt will be sent, with the quilt, to one of the military hospitals for a wounded soldier coming out of the war so they know that we are thinking of them.
