I rejoice greatly in the Lord...for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.
For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.- Romans 8:14-17
So many of us are guilty of trying to live this perfect life that society has set for us, but the only perfection is living a life of purpose – staying true to the path God has paved for us. Sometimes our purpose is related to the challenges we face, and maybe it is up to us to face and conquer that challenge, in order to help others going through similar circumstances.
One major step toward overall acceptance is recognizing and making note of the positive things and people in our lives on a daily basis. We all have things about ourselves that we would like to change, but we can’t run away from ourselves. We have to learn to fully embrace who we are (in Christ), and surround ourselves with people who are able to facilitate our growth.
As Christians, we must allow the Holy Spirit to be our guide as we patiently and lovingly work on those things we would like to change, and accept that His strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).
