A little Help From My Friends
This is to all the people that profess that they believe in God, Heaven and that Jesus died on the cross for their sins. The next time you decide to say something derogatory about a politician, a person, a belief or a persuasion that a person believes. Just remember who you are telling the world you follow and try to live by when you spew that nonsense out of your mouth and the image they are getting of your savior. There is enough hate and prejudice in the world without God fearing members of our Lords church spreading it around.
Just a foot note between 1980 and 1990 I made less than poverty level wages and supporting a family of 4. We lived in section 8 housing received WIC for food assistance. In 1987 I went to school to learn a trade while working part time at night, with Section 8 housing, Pell Grants and State of Minnesota money I graduated in 1989 started working as an electrician in 1990. Without that help I would never have been able to afford trade school. Did I take the help yes, do you call it hand outs of course you do. I had a job that stunk! So I took those hand outs and used them to improve my families lives. Did I pay it all back in the extra taxes from the increase in wages that I earned over 28 years of work. Yes and I am glad to pay it back that way.
Below I have pulled just a few of the verses where Jesus taught us to love and to give to those in need. So the next time someone says something about someone needing help and that “They don’t deserve the help because I work for a living” “Whats mine is mine”, “hurrah for me forget you”, “get your own, I earned this it’s mine”. Remember you would have nothing unless God gave it to you. I will call you out on it. If you want to call me a libtard or any other name go ahead, but I would rather be miss labeled than spew the junk that is coming out of the mouths of people that are supposed to be showing a caring, loving heart to others as Jesus has taught and commanded.
If we lived by just Matthew 22:37-39 the world would be a much happier place.
Matthew 22:36-40
36 “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” 37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”
1 Corinthians 13:
2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing
Ephesians 4:28
28 Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.
Galatians 6:2
2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
Hebrews 13:16
16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
Philippians 2:4
4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
Matthew 25:44-45
44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ 45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
Luke 3:10-11
10 “What should we do then?” the crowd asked. 11 John answered, “Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.”
James 2:14-17
14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
Matthew 25:35-40
35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ 37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ 40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
James 1:27
27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
