If you can't afford a $10 fee a month for birth control - then you should'nt engage in the activity. This attitude that government has to provide eveything is beyond belief. One of the OWS protestors was asked where all this money was coming from for all the entitlements they are demanding - his answer - 'it's all free' - That is the attitude that has us in the position we are in now. What happened to work for it, buy it if you can, do without if you can't. Someone who works their rear end off should not have to pay for those that want to protest, destroy and cause havoc in our streets and demand they have their entitlements. Entitlements are meant for people that need it, not the general public who can work for it.

SharonL, the Pill can cost much more than $10, depending on what brand the woman is using. An IUD may cost hundreds of dollars to be inserted.

Birth control prices range widely from $100 to $1,000

And as stated previously, different kinds of birth control can be used to treat other medical conditions. Remember Sandra Fluke? When she testified she noted that she had a friend who lost an ovary (and potentially, her ability to give birth), because she wasn't able to afford birth control to treat cysts. This is an issue that transcends preventing pregnancy. It's about ensuring that women have a good quality of life.

Why should health insurance cover contraception?

Prolife supporters realize that Roe v Wade isn't going to go away any time soon, so they are now conducting a "rear guard" action to impose their moral agenda on the public wherever and whenever possible.

The irony is that nations with the lowest abortion rates didn't achieve it by legislation but through ease of access to contraception.

Should vaccinations be covered in health insurance?

If no how are they any different than birth control?

I happen to look at this from the insurers end.

Providing birth control helps reduce payouts elsewhere. And that holds if the insurer is priivate or the state.
