What other then God and His love for all mankind is the reason the mean temperature is never spiking up beyond the 2000 level. Why does it always spike downward almost to zero, this is open for debate to all please don't consider this question too simple. Thank You.

God in his mercy created noise in data sets. God in his mercy also created STATISTICS to give man the power to understand noisy data sets.

God in his mercy also created complex systems that can make it seem like nothing is changing when many other things are changing.

Because God in his mercy also created the FIRST LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS which says that the energy we KNOW is coming into the system can't just simply disappear. It is going somewhere. And God in his mercy gave us eyes to see and instruments to measure and guess where that energy is going? The ocean.

God is truly great in providing us with tools to keep us free of the blindness of ignorance.

Unless we REALLY want to be ignorant, we won't be able to hide from our actions.

Selah!

You are basically saying, "why is every year not a new record?" The answer to which is because that isn't how the real world works.

Now, you might notice that we are in a flat part right now. While I'm sure you are looking at that and thinking, "Hey! Global warming just stopped forever!!!" the truth is it's an expected short term thing due to ocean cycles. I posted about it years ago before we saw the trend starting. How did I know it was going to happen? Because we saw the ocean cycles changing and knew what it meant:

a periodic cooling cycle caused by changes in ocean currents may give balance global warming for the next 10 years. the cooling cycle is temporary and the period after that will see even more rapid warming putting the overall warming trend back on schedule.

Keep in mind that that "climate" is describe as a 30 year trend, not a year to year trend or decade to decade trend. The trend is still very very much up.

BTW, did you know that the global average temperature (GAT) for August was an "all time August" high?

What about this then from wikipedia?

Best I can tell its from wikimedia, not wikipedia and it contains no context as to what it is describing from what source.

Two things.

First, please resource the graphic and see if there is not a smaller version.

Second, please provide a link to the site where the picture is sourced so we all may review the description and context in which the picture is presented.

Better! Sure, it's just tree ring data at the exclusion of other sources and only covers the Yamal Peninsula, but it's actual data. It does let us say that the Yamal peninsula is warmer than it has been in the past 7000 years. That alone doesn't tell us much, but it's a data point that can be combined with others.

For those interested, here's the actual link to the info on the file from wikipedia.

It's not the tools, it's how you use them.
