Why are there youth pastors?

Do they teach teens and preteens that fornication is wrong? What are they teaching?

I would think that the most valuable aspect of youth ministry is guiding teens as they move from a childhood faith, where many things are accepted on the word of the adults around them, to an adult faith, in which people examine their beliefs and begin to make their own choices. There are likely to be many questions during the passage to adulthood: "Is that really true? How do I know?" "What does all that stuff in the Nicene Creed mean?" "My mom says X, but my friend says Y; which one is right?" This is a good time for the adults in the teens' lives to give them guidance and direct them to good sources of information as they figure out these questions.
