Actually the Greek would be closer to:
"For the love of money is the root of all evils." as the NET translates it. The NET notes state:

I disagree; for example, Love of money is not the sin behind Satan's fall; Love of money is not behind Adam and Eve's sin; Love of money is not behind lust...

Your argument is incorrect.

How legalistic we have become. Nowhere in scripture does it asy that gambling, the drinking of alcohol or the smoling of tabacco is a sin.

Is spending $50 to play in a poker tournament a sin? Not necessarily any more than spending $50 to go to a bowling tournament or a football game is a sin.

Almost exactly what he said. Gambling is no more a sin than having sex is when you're married.

However, the bible DOES talk about the need for us to be wise with our money, and becoming addicted to gambling is not a wise thing.

Your going to compare bowling to people who gamble money at the whim of a bet? Is common sense now considered to be legalism?

I use to work in a casino--I know how things work there.

Smoking itself may not be a sin, but common sense merits that it is bad. Look at what it has done to so many people--why would the christian want to be bound by a yoke such as that. It's a dangerous life style to get yourself into. Once again, it's not legalism but common sense. It isn't a lifestyle that a christian should tolerate.

Drunkenness would merit as a sin, but I don't see how one or two glasses of liquor is harmful...

So, you think that because gambling and smoking are often harmful, that they are sinful.
