[Hebrews 8:13]; In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
When God brings the new covenant into play, he rendered the first one out of use. This was Jehovah God, by declaration, pronouncing the Old Testament, the law, as obsolete.
The law is ready, on its own accord, to vanish, to disappear, but there is a spirit that fights for its existence despite the fact that it does not carry any life with regard to the new creature.
In Jude, we see this spirit at work as the devil fights over the body of Moses.Indeed Moses was dead, but the mind of the devil was that if what can be called the spirit of Samuel could be conjured up, then there would be no difficulty in conjuring what a man can call the spirit of Moses. Giving Moses life was a smaller miracle to the enemy than keeping his body.
But remember, when Saul seeks to call back the spirit of Samuel, his language is seek me a woman with a familiar spirit. As such, Moses can only come to life by a familiar spirit. This spirit sounds like God but is not God.
Paul meets this spirit in the New Testament and realizes that it is on our pulpits teaching doctrine. He says in the last days, men shall depart from the faith. They do not depart from faith but the faith. They might still be able to perform miracles yet have left the fundamental teaching of the doctrine of Christ.
He says they will give heed to seducing (deceiving) spirits, that forbid people to marry and tell them to abstain from meats. These are men teaching the law; seeking to give life to a lifeless Moses.
But the Lord says the law is ready to vanish away. By divine mandate, even the law knows that it has no place in the life of a Born Again Christian. That is why there was no divine permission for Moses to enter the Promised Land. We have no business giving it life.
