Having a companion with whom you are equally yoked provides a real life opportunity to live an expression of Love similar to that which Christ has for the Church. And you also (if you do due diligence to search our your spouse to be before marrying them) end up with a companion you can work with to build a life with and have companionship with that will help keep you manifesting selfless love and service for and with your spouse. These benefits are hard to realize in an equal way outside of marriage.
