What colors are this dress to you?

Somehow the light is making people see white and gold but the actual dress is black and blue. Some see it as it really is, and I'm one of them. It's an intense debate all over the internet right now.

the first view is over exposed, and the second is most likely shot through a filtered lens which would change the colors.

What I like about all this is that it is almost a textbook case for why relying solely on eyewitness testimony can be a problem. We have a picture right there and people can't agree on colors that are not even close to each other. Imagine if we had to testify as to what color the dress was.

Blue and brown(could be black that's been messed up by the warm cast of the picture).
My brother showed me this earlier, when looked at in real life/via a decent photograph, it's blue and black.

Impossible to say for sure based on a picture, but nothing about that dress is black, regardless of lighting. If you think it is, you're legally blind.

It looks light blue and gold, but that could be that it's in the shade, so maybe white and gold.

I think the real question is why is this such an enormously popular obsession? In the last day or 2 it's EVERYWHERE. People at work talked about it at length, I call home, they bring it up, just about every "news" site or anywhere anyone can make a comment about everything I see it.....someone burn the stupid thing already

I see it as "gold" (sorta a tarnished, kinda greenish, brownish gold thing....) and blue. Not white with a hint of light blue, but an undeniably not-white blue

It's an optical illusion. Those have happened since the first man looked at the world. Our brains are wired to perceive things a specific way and it's not that hard to trick the brain into interpreting the information in an incorrect way.
