Tolerance

Have you noticed that the definition of tolerance is changing? For example take the homosexuality issue. Before, if a person thought that homosexulaity was wrong but they treated homosexuals with respect and equality they were classed as tolerant. Now a person is often labelled intolerant if they believe homosexulaity is wrong despite the fact that they treat homosexulas just as they would treat anyone else.

Whats going on? Is the word tolerant taking on a different meaning?

Already here so I'll reply first.

It's sad and frustrating to see that tolerance is taken to a much higher level which is wrong coz it's like you are taking a sin to higher level.Which is not right.

And yet they have intolerance to things which are christian and Biblical!

Talk about bias!

I heard an interview on the radio, just got part of it, but the person being interviewed, (didn't get the name) said that Christians are intolerant like the Taliban.

You know in some ways we are. We believe Jesus is the "only" way. Our God and the Muslim God are not the same. We are painted in a very poor light. Take us off the earth and let's just see how many hospitals are built. How many hungry are feed, etc. The world with out our salt would quickly be so hedonistic that .......well you know what would happen.

I am sounding self righteous but it is not us it is Jesus working through us. He get "all" the glory. We want none. Just to serve him.

If the world started liking us, I'd start to worry.

Hello rkbo,
I would like to think that we christians are intolerant, not politically correct and the like. We christians are a peculiar people. Check out what this verse says about us christians.

1 Peter 2:9 - But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.

This is proof that I'm not an American, but a christian that is just visiting, or passing through. Verse 11 - Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul.

But other religions claim to be the "only religion" also, yet you hear NO bashing of them, claiming they are like the Taliban. The Taliban is a group of murderers, and to label a group of people who have done nothing to you is so sickening, I don't know how they sleep at night :(

But I do agree that "tolerance" has taken on a whole new form. If you speak a work against homosexuality you can be sure you will be sued off in less than a week!!!!!!!

Ever since the Sept. 11 attacks, we are to say that Islam is a "good religion," so we don't offend them. People get offended over the stupidest things, really, and because of that, we must re-write history, change meanings of things, and a whole bunch of other stuff.

Hate the sin, love the sinner, but people get so angry if you hate what they do. They say, "Tolerate it," but they keep bashing Jesus, and if you say, "Stop it," you'd be "violating" their freedom of speech. I HATE double-standards!!!!

God bless :)

yeah, this kind of tolerance is absolutely questioning the meaning of morality and human standards at a different level.

human rights are rapidly changing to suit the desires of ourselves.

take this for example, parents aren't allowed to see their child's report card because the child has the right to it?
i've never heard of anything as absurd as that!
