So I was just sitting here worshipping a statue of Mary while contemplating upon the divinity of the Pope, some books on how hide to pedophiles from the authorities and how to discriminate against non-Catholics (especially women) resting in my hands, which, by the way, I had to get re-tattooed recently because the Mark of the Beast was fading out, don't want to have it go away and be mistaken for a subhuman during the Great Purging, and I got to thinking...

He is being sarcastic. Catholics do not worship Mary, nor statues of Mary, or any Saint, despite what some misinformed people may keep telling you. It's especially fun when they keep telling you that after they've been proven wrong.

I may not be Roman Catholic but thought I would play too since I am a 'former' RC.

Veneration != worship. No Catholic that knows Catholic doctrine does not worship Mary. To do so is idolatry.

On a serious note, Paul asked other members of the Body of Christ to pray on his behalf numerous times. He wasn't trying to "go around" going straight to Jesus. He was communing with the Body of Christ.
