It's is poorly designed by any metric. Since when was ends justify means Christian?
It makes Texas a basket case in terms of the rule of law.
I'm sure the lawsuits have been started already, if not ready to file. The Supreme Court merely declining to issue an emergency injunction is pretty meaningless. It can consider the case once it comes through the courts."A Texas state law took effect early on Wednesday after the U.S. Supreme Court did not act on an emergency petition brought by abortion facilities and activists to block it, meaning private citizens can sue abortion providers who perform the deadly operation after six weeks of pregnancy."
Supreme Court Protects Babies By Allowing Texas' Six-Week Abortion Ban
The supreme court from what I can see are preparing to strike down roe vs Wade. Otherwise if they declared this law constitutional, it would render the supreme court and the constitution almost null and void. Want to ban free speech/religion/ guns etc just follow the Texas playbook. It seems this law is written in a way that makes it difficult for federal courts to strike it down. By allowing citizens to sue the abortion provider as well as anyone who helped the lady get the abortion, Texas avoided the precedent set in Roe vs Wade. Since state officials can't bring charges or sue, it seems to absolve Texas from any legal culpability or responsibility for litigation and legal fees. It is certainly a creative way to control women with imposed moral ethics of the religious mob. It's peculiar the juxtaposition of their hypocrisy on masking mandates in regards to their moral claims in the abortion argument. Man, I'm glad I'm a man, man!

Maybe so. It seems like a template to circumvent our Constitution whenever the grievance fits a political narrative. The supreme court from what I can see are preparing to strike down roe vs Wade. Please Leave Sade out of the argument.Progressives do not need a playbook from Texas, they have several from Machiavelli, de Sade, Rousseau, Marx, Foucault, Alinsky, Crowley et. al.
Contort much?
Simple: They are trying to legislate puritan culture. Is what I stated not the underlying mentality of the most of the people in the camp that staunchly opposes abortion?
I can't say I've ever come across a person in the pro-life crowd that's advocated for things like expanding safety nets and contraception access...in fact, it's usually quite the opposite. There's typically a lot of "that's socialism" and "I shouldn't have to pay for that" talk.
With regards to how to prevent abortions, the staunch pro-life crowd usually offers little, as far as recommendations, outside of
- "Just tell everyone else to stop having sex under circumstances I don't approve of"
- "Let's just try to make abortions illegal"
They need to protest and vote in the local elections.I wouldn’t want to be a woman living in Texas after this.

This move may just be what Texas Democrats need to mobilize voters to get to the polls and start to flip the state blue. Here’s hoping. They need to protest and vote in the local elections.

How can they do that if their votes are supposedly being suppressed?
Only way around the attempts at voter suppression is to get out the vote in greater numbers. Complacency is no longer an option. I think this is something both sides have come to figure out these last few elections. How can they do that if their votes are supposedly being suppressed?
