Shooting in Munich shopping centre

At least one person has been killed and an unknown number injured in a shooting at a shopping centre in the German city of Munich.

A big security operation is under way, German police say. The scene in the Moosach district has been sealed off.

Reports speak of one attacker. Helicopters are over the scene and shopworkers reportedly unable to leave.

The police are asking that people avoid the area around the shopping centre and are urging them to stay indoors.

Death toll: Currently 5.

Suspects: about 1-3, still fleeing.

Motive: Currently unknown, either a terror attack, criminal activity or a crazy attack. The police is operating on the assumption of a terror attack.

There have been witness reports that one gunman has killed himself and was more of a crazed gunman than a terrorist. Also, a german.

There is also a video with a shooter who says he is a german has been in psycaitric care on a car park.

It kind of sounds like a single person to me, but it's not sure.

If he did kill himself, I have doubts he was a Muslim since suicide is forbidden (the only time some allow suicide is in war when it is going to take out combatants that would otherwise have been hard to take out).

It sounds like he (or one of them) was a disturbed individual first and foremost.

There are videos of a man in a carpark being yelled at by some angry people who say he had a loaded gun. He claimed to be German. But cannot see how this serves any local german terrorist group. Could just be a nutcase or several nutcases. I have heard reports of 3 distinct gunmen but there are contradictions. Some say they had long barrelled guns for instance but an eyewitness in McDonalds said her child witnessed a man loading a pistol. He apparently then killed kids. But the police are interviewing everybody. They are very thorough. There have been unconfirmed reports of incidents elsewhere in the city also.

This is an incredibly cowardly and pointless attack - hard to see how it serve anyones purpose including Daesh
