• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

sorry to hear you're struggling with this so much at the moment. I'm praying for you

"I call on the Lord in my distress,
and he answers me."
Psalm 120:1

"Find rest, O my soul, in God alone;
my hope comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken."
Psalm 62:5-6

"Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you;
he will never let the righteous fall."
Psalm 55:22

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."
Psalm 46:1

"Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." Hebrews 13:5

God loves you so much! call out to him and lean on him when things are hard. He's right there with you.

Heavenly father,
I pray for your peace to surround her at this time. Renew her strength, and let her feel you near to her during this time. I pray that you would wrap your arms around her, that she feels your comfort, and that you would remind her how deeply you love her.
In Jesus name amen

I am not sure if this will help, I hope it does, but, at times when I struggle with the things I struggle with: bipolar disorder, depression, low self esteem, back issues, nerve pain, I turn to scripture and also to music because music has a way to soothe the soul and mind and heal I believe. Here are a couple of songs that have proven helpful to me :) I will include the lyrics as well below the videos

Miss Angie - Hands (1997) - YouTube

I can't go back
I won't go back
'Cause with you I am dead
I can't go back
I won't go back
'Cause with you I am trash
In your hands
In your hands
I die to what I am (x2)
I can't go back
I won't go back
'Cause with You I can live
I can't go back
I won't go back
'Cause with You I don't lack
In your hands
In your hands
I die to what I am (x2)
My life is hidden now
My life is hidden now (x2)
In your hands
In your hands
I die to what I am

Good Charlotte - Hold On (Subtitulado Ingles - Español) [OFFICIAL] HD - YouTube

This world
This world is cold
But you don't
You don't have to go
You're feeling sad, you're feeling lonely,
And no one seems to care
You're mother's gone and your father hits you
This pain you cannot bear

But we all bleed the same way as you do
And we all have the same things to go through

Hold on if you feel like letting go
Hold on it gets better than you know

Your days
You say they're way too long
And your nights
You can't sleep at all
Hold on
And you're not sure what you're waiting for,
But you don't want to no more
And you're not sure what you're looking for,
But you don't want to no more

But we all bleed the same way as you do
And we all have the same things to go through

Hold on if you feel like letting go
Hold on it gets better than you know
Don't stop looking, you're one step closer
Don't stop searching, it's not over
Hold on

What are you looking for?
What are you waiting for?
Do you know what you're doing to me?
Go ahead,
What are you waiting for?

Hold on if you feel like letting go
Hold on it gets better than you know
Don't stop looking, you're one step closer
Don't stop searching, it's not over
Hold on if you feel like letting go
Hold on it gets better than you know
Hold on

Shinedown - Save Me (Video) - YouTube

I got a candle
And I've got a spoon
I live in a hallway with no doors and no rooms
And under a window sill
They all were found
A touch of concrete within the doorway
Without a sound

[Chorus:]
Someone save me if you will
And take away all these pills
And please just save me, if you can
From my blasphemy in my wasteland

How did I get here
And what went wrong
Couldn't handle forgiveness
Now I'm far beyond gone
And I can hardly remember
The look of my own eyes
How could I love this,
My life so dishonest
It made me compromise

[Chorus]

Jump in the water
Jump in with me
Jump on the altar
Lay down with me
My hardest question
To answer is why
Why

[Chorus]

Someone save me [Repeat: x2]
Somebody save me [Repeat: x2]
Please don't erase me

I too in my past did struggle with self injury and thanks be to Christ for delivering me from it. Stay close to Christ and He will bring you out of this into His loving arms :)

Please hold on. I used to cut as well and yes, when those times comes it doesnt look like anything can make you feel better but by cutting, the pain is released. I am here to say this: it does get so much better. Much better. If I was to be successful in one of my multiple suicide attempts in my past, I would of never been able to meet my beautiful life, met amazing friends and people that are in my life, but most of all, I would of never known the love that my Savior indeed has for me. His love is the only love that can save, that can set free, that can heal.

I know that most of us will probably never meet in person but in the next life we will and that is amazing and I would love to be able to see those that have struggled with this, as I have, and to say to them: See, isnt this place wonderful. Isnt He indeed wonderful. Look what He has given to us that believe and trust in Him. Also, please seek out the advice of professionals. There is nothing wrong at all with receiving medical help for this. I pray that one day the stigma of mental health issues within Christianity becomes less of an issue so that those out there do not feel like they are not living up to the churches standards because they need medication to help.

For anyone out there that needs to talk, that needs encouragement, that just needs a friend to talk to. Please, PM me and I am here for anyone.

Christ is everything! He is alive in me today
