Christian arrested for preaching by 'heavy-handed' police wins £5,000

A Christian street preacher has won compensation for wrongful arrest over an unfounded homophobic 'hate crime ' incident. Police Scotland had to pay £5,500 to Angus Cameron, 52, after being detained.

Imagine a "free" country where someone being offended is enough to get you arrested. No investigation no hearing out the other side. While being cuffed the police can't even tell you what is the exact thing you said that was considered offensive. Then caught lying over the phone about their wrongful act until the you have to get a freedom of info filed against your own police force to get a straight answer. The cherry on top of the cake the police lost the suit you filed against them. One would imagine this being China or Russia or some autocratic nation but this is Scotland, UK.

£5,500 is too little for what could have ended up in prison time. IMHO the police should pay at least 10x the amount and the specific officer should be jailed for the same time as an actual hate crime. Getting away paying with tax payers' money is unacceptable. But hey UK has been a "progressive" autocratic state for some time now.

Scotland is progressive liberal, after reading the article "Franklin Graham" was awarded 97,000 because they canceled his scheduled event in Glasgow, because of his views regarding homosexuality

Of course they want to stop God's word from being heard, glad to see the street preacher in action, as Jesus told us if they hate me, their going to hate you

It's about time, around the world the woke agenda is being removed, it looks like Scotland is taking a closer look at their participation in the woke agenda, we hope and pray this continues!

If the preacher was reading scripture there is nothing homophobic in the bible she targeted him because of her own agenda she commented a hate crime herself to the Preacher it's her prejudice than someone making a compliant

A lot of these kinds of stories tend to vastly overstate what occurred to generate outrage, but in this case it was 100% the case. This is truly Orwellian thought crime. Someone was offended, therefore it's a crime.

A very large broom needs to be put through the ranks of Scottish police and make sure the people involved in setting up this scenario never work for them again. And multiply the compensation by 10.
