A crowd of several hundred gathered Saturday night to see Detroit’s newest resident: A 9-foot, 2,000-pound statue of a goat-headed occult idol named Baphomet.

This is one of the signs of the Modern Age rebellion.

St. Paul said Jesus' Second Coming would not happen before the rebellion (
2 Thessalonians 2). This rebellion was alluded to by Jesus when, in foretelling what would come at the end of the world, He asked if there would be any faith on earth (Luke 18:8), and when He said, "For false Christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect" (Matthew 24).

Some of the signs of the rebellion are:

And, for the first time in history, the U.S. government is trying to coerce Catholic nuns to pay for abortions and contraception.

The Man of Lawlessness

2 Thessalonians 2:1-12

"Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our assembling to meet him, we beg you, brethren, not to be quickly shaken in mind or excited, either by spirit or by word, or by letter purporting to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. Let no one deceive you in any way; for that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you this? And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, and the Lord Jesus will slay him with the breath of his mouth and destroy him by his appearing and his coming. The coming of the lawless one by the activity of Satan will be with all power and with pretended signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are to perish, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends upon them a strong delusion, to make them believe what is false, so that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness." (emphasis added)

Pope St. Pius X, E Supremi (On the Restoration of All things in Christ) October 4, 1903

5. When all this is considered there is good reason to fear lest this great perversity may be as it were a foretaste, and perhaps the beginning of those evils which are reserved for the last days; and that there may be already in the world the "Son of Perdition" of whom the Apostle speaks (II. Thess. ii., 3). Such, in truth, is the audacity and the wrath employed everywhere in persecuting religion, in combating the dogmas of the faith, in brazen effort to uproot and destroy all relations between man and the Divinity! While, on the other hand, and this according to the same apostle is the distinguishing mark of Antichrist, man has with infinite temerity put himself in the place of God, raising himself above all that is called God; in such wise that although he cannot utterly extinguish in himself all knowledge of God, he has contemned God's majesty and, as it were, made of the universe a temple wherein he himself is to be adored. "He sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself as if he were God" (II. Thess. ii., 2).

6. Verily no one of sound mind can doubt the issue of this contest between man and the Most High. Man, abusing his liberty, can violate the right and the majesty of the Creator of the Universe; but the victory will ever be with God - nay, defeat is at hand at the moment when man, under the delusion of his triumph, rises up with most audacity. Of this we are assured in the holy books by God Himself. Unmindful, as it were, of His strength and greatness, He "overlooks the sins of men" (Wisd. xi., 24), but swiftly, after these apparent retreats, "awaked like a mighty man that hath been surfeited with wine" (Ps. 1xxvii., 65), "He shall break the heads of his enemies" (Ps. 1xxvii., 22), that all may know "that God is the king of all the earth" (Ib. 1xvi, 8), "that the Gentiles may know themselves to be men"(Ib. ix., 20).

From Pope Benedict XVI's book Jesus of Nazareth (Part I):

"Who could fail to see here a description of our world as well, in which the Christian is threatened by an anonymous atmosphere, by 'something in the air' that wants to make the faith seem ludicrous and absurd to him? And who could fail to see the poisoning of the spiritual climate all over the world that threatens the dignity of man, indeed his very existence? The individual human being, and even communities of human beings, seem to be hopelessly at the mercy of such powers." (p. 175)

"The [prodigal] son journeys 'into a far country.' The Church Fathers read this above all as interior estrangement from the world of the father—the world of God—as interior rupture of relation, as the great abandonment of all that is authentically one's own. The son squanders his inheritance. He just wants to enjoy himself. He wants to scoop life out till there is nothing left. He wants to have 'life in abundance' as he understands it. He no longer wants to be subject to any commandment, any authority. He seeks radical freedom. He wants to live only for himself, free of any other claim. He enjoys life; he feels that he is completely autonomous. Is it difficult for us to see clearly reflected here the spirit of the modern rebellion against God and God's law? The leaving behind of everything we once depended on and the will to a freedom without limits?" (pp. 203-204)

"If we open our eyes, isn't what is said in the parable [of the wicked tenants] actually a description of our present world? Isn't this precisely the logic of the modern age, of our age? Let us declare that God is dead, then we ourselves will be God. At last we no longer belong to anyone else; rather, we are simply the owners of ourselves and of the world. At last we can do what we please. We get rid of God; there is no measuring rod above us; we ourselves are our only measure. The 'vineyard' belongs to us. What happens to man and the world next? We are already beginning to see it..." (p. 257)

These two can apply to all Christians. It is a wicked and perverse age we live in in America and elsewhere. There is hope because in other places Christianity is rising

well not quite all Christians.
there are some groups who have been deceived into blending Christianity and the world together,
but this was long ago predicted to happen before the end.
And yes, Christianity is rising in spite of everything in the world that is against it.

Shortly after posting this thread, I went to watch a little bit of TV. There was a skateboard sport competition on an NBC channel, so I started watching it. But then I noticed that the skateboarder had a big Satanism symbol (a pentagram) on the back of his shirt, and then I noticed at least one guy in the crowd of spectators also wearing a shirt with the same symbol on it. Satanism used to be underground, but now it's part of mainstream western culture. Satan has come out of the closet.

The rabble are going to rouse. Of course, fake atheistic "religions" that exist to mock another will use every available opportunity at their disposal to continue doing so. Just like Westboro Baptist is a family of lawyers masquerading as a tax exempt religious organization- there will always be folks that take the spirit and letter of the law to ridiculous lengths to make their point.

As if the city does not have enough problems .This what total freedom means to them, freedom to go to Hell .
And to drag everybody with them.

I'm actually afraid. This is bad, real bad.

Anyone else see the irony? Wanting to remove our Confederate monuments while allowing this garbage. Robert E Lee bad , Confederate flag a symbol of hate and evil goat head what's his name good? Representing what ever it said... Ridiculous. I told you people you were being beguiled into suporrting an agenda that wasn't good.

I don't think many people think that the goat head thing is good. It is a right in this country, and it is distastful to display, like the Confederate flag, but there you go.
People's indifference to Satan is all he needs to have achieved his goal.

they do this to mock the faith
but really, mockery shows the strength of Christianity
you do not waste your breath to make fun of something if it does not really matter

I think that mockery is a better sign from a culture then indifference
