I'm afraid it won't be enough. There are over 400,000 kids in the foster system right now. There are about 150,000 adoptions a year. Some of those are international and some are step-parent, so most kids are in the US foster system for around 4 years. There are already more kids than willing, adoptive parents.

There have been over 600,000 abortions a year. If just half of those are born and put up for adoption instead, the foster system would need to double in capacity and the adoption rate would need to quadruple.

The only way this works is if healthy couples who are perfectly capable of having their own babies decide not to, and adopt instead, which is pretty rare. That probably means increasing the adoption tax credit as an incentive. The government is going to have to pay people to adopt babies.

We also need to find about 3x the social workers currently available, expand CPS or create new organizations for connecting adoptive parents and birth mothers (give SavALife federal funding?), provide poor birth mothers with appropriate prenatal care and drug/alcohol rehab, provide paid maternity leave and counseling services for the recovery period, and make a budget plan for the 15% uptick in child tax credits and 400% increase in adoption tax credits. Oh, and start providing high schools with larger desks or alternative education. As a fat guy, I had trouble fitting, I can't imagine a pregnant girl trying to learn comfortably at 8 months pregnant. ~50,000 of those abortions are from teenagers.

This should have come from the legislative branch as a package bill. Not from the judicial branch saying "it's illegal now. Deal with it."
