According to Francis Collins, the leading expert on DNA: "95% of mouse genes have clear matches to genes in the human genome...". We know from poetry and literature that: "The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry." So I wonder what is the connection between men and mice? Perhaps we can look to Cinderella to see the role that mice play. Here we see with the aid of her teacher, the Pumpkin (vegetable soul) & mice (animal soul) are transformed into a coach and horses that will transport Cinderella to the ball (the next world, or upper higher world).

Indeed that is exactly what Collins hopes to do. "The consequence of all this progress is that a new science has appeared at the very center of biology and medicine: you could call it DNA cryptography. We've intercepted a highly elaborate message of critical importance for the future of the human species". He then goes onto explain this "New Paradigm".

"Of Mice and Men" by Steinbeck was required reading. Showing a comparison between Mice, the animal soul and man who is seeking higher ground. Just as Collins is seeking a new paradigm where can start to remove some of those glitches that cause the best laid plans to go awry.

Pareidolia. Again.

Seriously, mate, not everything that features similars words and phrases is linked at some deep esoteric or profound level.
In the Catholic tradition mice are associated with St. Gertrude. Most representations in art depict her as an abbess with mice, rats, or cats. Commonly seen running up her pastoral staff or cloak are hopeful-looking mice representing Souls in Purgatory, to which she had an intense devotion, just as with St. Gertrude the Great. Even as recently as 1822, offerings of mice made of gold and silver were left at her shrine.

The point here is universal appeal. If you are looking for a product to sell then you want to find one that appeals to the most amount of people. The book: "Of Mice and Men" has so much universal appeal that it use to be required reading. The question is why does the book appeal to so many people. Perhaps it is Collins that answers that question, because we share so much DNA with the Mouse. Because we have a lot in common with the common mouse. As Frost the Poet points out. One common fate falls upon Mice and men:

The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.

No matter how carefully a project is planned, something may still go wrong with it.

This is the very bases of Science is dealing with what could go wrong or what did go wrong and how do we fix it.

Far to often Science is derelict in it's duty because it is used to separate people from their money. As the Bible says the love of money is the root of all evil. So if you use science for money this by definition is evil. Rather Science should be used to benefit the common cause. Science should be used for good and not for evil. In the end everyone has a choice but we do what we can to help them to make the right choice and to choose to do good. To choose what is beneficial to others and not harmful to the majority in order to benefit a minority of the people.

No!

Nooo!

Can't argue with that.

The whole title of Collins book is: "The Language of God: A Scientist Presents Evidence for Belief" Perhaps the reviews will help you to understand the point that Collins makes in his book.

From Publishers Weekly
Collins, a pioneering medical geneticist who once headed the Human Genome Project, adapts his title from President Clinton's remarks announcing completion of the first phase of the project in 2000: "Today we are learning the language in which God created life." Collins explains that as a Christian believer, "the experience of sequencing the human genome, and uncovering this most remarkable of all texts, was both a stunning scientific achievement and an occasion of worship." This marvelous book combines a personal account of Collins's faith and experiences as a genetics researcher with discussions of more general topics of science and spirituality, especially centering around evolution. Following the lead of C.S. Lewis, whose Mere Christianity was influential in Collins's conversion from atheism, the book argues that belief in a transcendent, personal God—and even the possibility of an occasional miracle—can and should coexist with a scientific picture of the world that includes evolution. Addressing in turn fellow scientists and fellow believers, Collins insists that "science is not threatened by God; it is enhanced" and "God is most certainly not threatened by science; He made it all possible." Collins's credibility as a scientist and his sincerity as a believer make for an engaging combination, especially for those who, like him, resist being forced to choose between science and God. From Scientific American
A devoutly Christian geneticist such as Francis S. Collins, author of The Language of God and leader of the Human Genome Project, can comfortably accept that "a common ancestor for humans and mice is virtually inescapable" or that it may have been a mutation in the FOXP2 gene that led to the flowering of human language. The genetic code is, after all, "God’s instruction book." But what sounds like a harmless metaphor can restrict the intellectual bravado that is essential to science. "In my view," Collins goes on to say, "DNA sequence alone, even if accompanied by a vast trove of data on biological function, will never explain certain special human attributes, such as the knowledge of the Moral Law and the universal search for God." Evolutionary explanations have been proffered for both these phenomena. Whether they are right or wrong is not a matter of belief but a question to be approached scientifically. The idea of an apartheid of two separate but equal metaphysics may work as a psychological coping mechanism, a way for a believer to get through a day at the lab. But theism and materialism don’t stand on equal footings. The assumption of materialism is fundamental to science.
