• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi,

does anyone else feel this way? Not enjoying life at all? I don't know where it comes from and I don't know what do do. I don't enjoy anything. Everything bores me, doesn't interest me. I don't like meeting people, because I'm scared. Scared they'll think I'm dumb or boring. I don't look forward to anything. I don't know whats wrong with me. I just have no joy. Can anyone relate?

Yes, but not your way.

John 12:25
Anyone who loves his life loses it, but anyone who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal. [Whoever has no love for, no concern for, no regard for his life here on earth, but despises it, preserves his life forever and ever.]

I had no enjoyment out of life or anything for a long time. Nothing exited me or made me want to live. I couldn't remember a time anymore where I was happy.

People told me I didn't have enough faith, that's why I felt this way. People didn't understand that my feelings weren't about lack of will or faith.

Things are different now for me, I am starting to feel again and feeling happiness and enjoyment. I relate to what your feeling and if there was any way I could impress on you, it's that there is something better than what you feel. Hey, your experiencing the worse, it can only get better :).

Depression makes us feel uninterested in anything. I don't hardly want to do anything today or lately. So you are definitely not alone. I am praying for God to make big exciting changes in your life. God bless you dear one.

We all fall into pits from time to time.. but if this has been around for longer than a few weeks, seek professional help.

We can help ourselves out of the darkness by using reframing of our thoughts and working to think properly and not condemn ourselves or beat ourselves up with words over occurrences in our lives. CBT (cognitive behavior therapy) is one organized way to proceed. You can find a thread here in Mental Health forum on 10 Common Cognitive Distortions and what to do about them that will give you basic ideas on this.

CBT oft follows Philippians 4:8
English Standard Version (©2001)
"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."
