Need some support

Hi everyone. I know I do not post in this section too often, but I have an issue that I thought I may be able to get some couseling about, and so I'm asking you all.

I belong to another board called "Christianboards" - I think I'm one of the only Catholics over there... anyway, I usually veer away from things of this nature, but I read this thread & it REALLY upset me. http://www.christianboards.org/t4786

Those who know me know of my devotion to our Blessed Mother, so I was wondering if there was anyone who could help me out with what else to say in this discussion or if I should just leave it as is.

Thank you,
Jasma

I couldn't view the thread because I'm not a member. What, specifically, are you defending?

Peace.
Basically they are saying that the Catholics in the following article: http://www.sltrib.com/faith/ci_4303070

are worshipping Mary. I know it's a common thing & I tried to explain that Catholics do not worship statues that they pray to the saints... etc etc. I thought I made it clear & brought in some good points, but I still got some slack about it.

Well, the fact is Catholics worship God and no one else.

What I have learned is that it does not matter what you say to someone who believes we worship Mary and/or the Saints - they will not listen to you. You can tell them in a thousand ways that we do not but they will respond with "yes you do". Although it is frustrating, there is really nothing you can say to convince them otherwise. Only God can change their hearts.

Don't sweat it. Jesus warned us that we would be persecuted and like everything else He told us - He is right.

Peace.

I was a little unclear about how this appearance supposedly happened where the article says,
"This swing in spirituality dates back, in large part, to 1531 when the Virgin Mary visited Juan Diego, a poor shepherd, at the hill of Tepeyac, northwest of Mexico City."
How is she suppose to have communicated this and why?

I am in complete agreement with this statement. :amen:
