I am generally of the opinion that, as long as one isn't violating their conscience and is doing something with love then that's a good thing. Having said that, I could not, myself, in that situation attend.

So it's not my place to tell someone else what to do in this situation; my own personal position would be that I could not. Purely on the basis of conscience.

-CryptoLutheran
Their Book of Mormon says there are only 2 churches: the church of the Lamb of God and the church of the devil. (1 Nephi 14:10). Their scripture Doctrine and Covenants, Section One, says the only church which pleases God is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They teach that to gain eternal life you have to be baptized by Mormon elders, be worthy to marry in a Mormon temple (non-Mormons are not allowed to enter the temple rooms) pay a full tithe, be baptized by proxy for dead people, attend meetings regularly, accept callings, keep Joseph Smith's commandments, accept three Mormon gods, believe that their heavenly father has a resurrected human body and was formerly only a man, as a god he had sex with his daughter the virgin Mary, their child is Jesus (see Family Home Evening Manual 1972). I guess that's enough for now. Doctrine and Covenants, Section 132 talks about temple marriage, etc.

I can imagine how you feel.

You sound like a young person, both physically and spiritually, since it seems difficult talking to your stepmom about your feeling.
It's always best to take that course, though, since it's better when persons understand each other.
It's true that some persons of age have strong feelings, which don't yield to other views, but I think that's changing, so it's more than likely, even if your stepmom does not agree, she may try to understand.

Even if she does not understand, she will appreciate you for having the courage to respectfully express how you feel.
That's key. How you talk to her.
1 Peter 3:15

It's your attitude that counts, and that's what will win her heart, having witnessed your respectful, pure conduct. 1 Peter 3:2

So take private moments to pray for a mild spirit, think about her feelings (1 Corinthians 13:4-6), and choose a good setting to approach her and talk.

PS
Not to side track from the topic, what makes Mormon baptisms not a true Christian baptism?
Mormons baptize in the name of their three gods. Their top god called "heavenly father" has a physical resurrected body which enabled him to make his virgin daughter mary pregnant with their son jesus. Mormon baptisms only are recognized by Mormons. The rest of us are considered the church of the devil.

Can I see that in writing.... I mean, writing other than your post. A reliable source, in other words.
Not saying that you are unreliable... but as of now, until I have verification from a reliable source... you are. :)
The church of the devil? An angel is speaking to Nephi:

Book of Mormon, 1 Nephi 14:10
10 And he said unto me: Behold there are save two churches only; the one is the church of the Lamb of God, and the other is the church of the devil; wherefore, whoso belongeth not to the church of the Lamb of God belongeth to that great church, which is the mother of abominations; and she is the harlot of all the earth.

I would not concern myself with the original poster's decision.
Whatever decision she makes, is hers, and I respect her decision. After all, she hasn't gone to jump off the Empire State Building. :D

Besides, going to a baptism of LDS can't be any worse than feeling comfortable in one of thousands of denominations, and not knowing one's fate.
Did not Jesus say, "I know my sheep, and my sheep know me, and listen to my voice, and they follow me."?
Jesus is the one who finds his sheep, and God draw them to him and teaches them the truth. John 6:44, 45

The concern of Jesus' followers, is to "Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage - with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry." 2 Timothy 4:2-5

So, workers in the harvest sow seeds, water them, and leave the growth to God. 1 Corinthians 3:6
If @anothersisterinchrist's heart is in the right place, as well as her step-mom's, they will be well looked after, and grow. Millions will. Haggai 2:7; Micah 4:1-7
:)
News for you:
John 3
18Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

So my step mum raised me since I was about 10 years old. My real mum moved away and has remained in my life but we don’t speak often. I became a born again Christian a few years ago and while I don’t support the Mormon church (I am aware that their baptism isn’t a true Christian baptism), I feel bad to not be there for my step mum since she wants me there. I am also worried it will make her hesitant to attend my own events if my faith is involved. I don’t want to cause division between us so I am confused about what to do… any biblical advice appreciated Sorry if this is the wrong thread/forum for this question.
Tell your step mom that mormonism is a false religion and that there is enough proof for this, if she gets mad ask her why she is mad

When I was a Mormon I attended my aunt's church hoping she would attend the Mormon church with me. She didn't. But her church, I think, was Jesus Only.
