I just wanted to share my fasting, I am not really looking for opinions because I feel is the only one that knows whether it is pleasing to him or not is God.

Our church is doing 42 days of fasting but this doesn't necessarily mean just food, it can be TV, internet, Facebook, ect. Take the time you would spend doing an activity and spend it in prayer.

I have been struggling with pornography the past few years, watching it a few times a day online, just for short periods of time but still watching it. Every morning before I left for work I would spend 15-20 minutes at the computer watching it.

For my fast I knew I would fail if I tried to eliminate it completely from my life. I am struggling from a lost long relationship and sometimes it really helps me, it helped me in the past from sexual sin which it was sin anyhow.. still not an excuse to watch it... but that is a different subject.

So my fast was to eliminate it from my morning routine and spend the time I used to watch it by praying instead, I also decide to take 1/2 of my 30 minute commute to work praying and the other half listening to Christian music which I have now been successful for 30 days and instead of going 42 days I have decided to try to keep this permanent as I feel its a step in in removing it from my life and being a better Christian.

Just wanted to share my fast, I know I could do better and more but I started somewhere and feel better. I think your fast can be what you choose, at least as a start. Just make sure you know the reasons you are doing it.

Dear Ryan,
What you are doing is one good way to help you stop viewing porn. You are starving the pleasure pathways in your brain and are building the off ramp. There are other very helpful tools you can add to this as well. Here are 2 more:
1. A book titled, "The Porn Trap - The Essential guide..." by Wendy and Larry Maltz. It is an excellent book for both men and women and the last two chapters talk to the couples and what they can do to overcome this porn problem.
2. We help men with porn problems here in Australia and Asia through our seminars and our Self Help Manual titled, Empowering Men - To Overcome the Temptation. You can find it if you look up on the internet Save The Source and then the resources page.
The self help manual has a section that looks at women in a different light, which causes men to approach/view them differently. It also has 15 steps to help you stop viewing porn. I would highly recommend it.
God bless and guide you.
Cheers

Thanks everyone for the support, it is great to see :)

I have been successful for almost 60 days now and I feel a lot better. I learned that a lot of issues with this problem were from my past relationship, I wasn't happy and I was trying to find ways to feel the voids. The Christian music has helped a ton as well, some of the lyrics in my old music encouraged sexual desires and didn't help me.

Also God has recently brought another women into my life that I really like and I am hoping grows into a relationship.
