My own thinking is this--yes, we can...if these are truly the last days. But that doesn't make every crackpot be a prophet just because he says he has received some revelation. More important, no prophet is going to counter what Scripture has already given us. That's what most of these guys do--replace or reject the historic faith in favor of a different Gospel--which is something the Holy Spirit does not do.

Can we have modern day prophets and people receiving divine revelations ?
It's easier to think about issues like these if one recognizes that it is God that is doing them, not humans themselves. (Let me know if you can teach me how to knit the molecules of a broken bone back together over the course of a few seconds by just putting my hand on a broken arm.)

Presuming you are not asking if God is capable of doing these today, it seems to me that the question is will he. People regularly say things like "don't put God in a box!" meaning don't presume God won't do something.

A more interesting question is, would he? (A question about the character of God.)
