Star Wars actress Kelly Marie Tran deletes Instagram posts after abuse
Star Wars actress Kelly Marie Tran, who has suffered months of racist and sexist abuse on social media, has deleted all her posts on Instagram.

Tran starred as mechanic-turned-Resistance fighter Rose Tico in 2017's The Last Jedi.

But she experienced a fierce backlash from some fans, who took aim at her ethnicity and appearance.

The film's director, Rian Johnson, has defended the star, apparently describing some fans as "manbabies".

The fans don't like the new direction of star wars and get insulted for it, and they wonder why Soylow was a bomb.
The "fans" said the same thing about the prequels and many of the people that were kids when those movies were made have fond memories of the film. The manchildren are a different story, they believe the world rotates around their infantile desires and lash out at anything different. Solo is doing poorly likely because it's a film no one wants, feels like a naked cash grab, and is probably so generic that it's simply not entertaining.

Nonetheless, fans targeting specific actors whether it is Kelly Marie Tran (or the bullying Jake Lloyd endured pre-social media) are becoming an increasing problem. Fandom used to be something encouraged, but more and more it is becoming a toxic world for the most extreme.

When you spit in the faces of the fans, expect backlash. It is good and OK, no. But it is a given.
No one spit in anyone's face, that's just how manchildren see the world, they think everything should be for them and if it's not the perfect thing they had in their head, they throw a temper tantrum. The other problem is they lack the proper skills to express themselves, so they go online where they are encouraged to be racist and misogynistic pigs. If they were going to have a backlash, they could have gone after the director, but these are manchildren, they don't operate based on any kind of logic.

When the new trilogy was announced, we had the opportunity to get the original Han, Luke and Leia back on screen, in their iconic roles, to put an end cap on the series.

An incredible opportunity to salute a major piece of Americana culture.

And they completely blew it. And now that Carrie's dead, it's forever gone.

That's the major issue people are having with Disney star wars.

For goodness' sake, it's a movie!

If they don't like it, they don't have to watch. I like the James Cameron Terminator films, everything else afterward has been horrible. I haven't watched all of them, but I am fine simply liking the first two films. If they make a bad movie, I'm not going to seek out Emilia Clarke and start harassing her because I thought she ruined Linda Hamilton's character.

We get it, you think the movies are a disappointment and have squandered an opportunity, but to turn that into some kind of backlash is the height of entitlement. You didn't like it, move on. And that's the problem with manchildren, they can't move on (which makes sense since child/baby is part of their name).
