Hey everyone!! I am a new member to this site, and as I was getting more familiar with it I saw this section of forums. So I decided to post up a poem that I wrote a while back, that I haven't been able to top just yet.

I hope you all enjoy!!

Lion

I look around with my amber eyes at my pride
My head lions are resting
My cubs are nursing off of my sisters
It’s my turn to watch the cubs while the others hunt

Yawning I roar at the same time
Through the roar all the cubs come to me
Within minutes I am left alone
Just me, the cubs, and the three head males

I get up and lead the cubs down to the water
Our tongues lap up the water, throats parched
I am done before the cubs and gaze over the horizon
I see the mountains topped with that mysterious white

What is that? I ponder
All we see that’s white is the rain or the rare albino lion
But rain doesn't stay white like that
Is it warm, cool, or a type of grass?

The cubs are done and we head back
The lions are watching me
I bow my head in submission and love
Remembering the abandoners that the lions protected us from

Hours later my sisters, aunts, mother, and cousins return
They drag a stag behind them
Then we all bow and allow the cubs and lions to feed
While they feed I help clean their faces

This is where I belong
In a pride with my family
My father, brothers, sons, and nephews are satisfied
I arch my back stopping only when I hear a crack

Then with my mother, sisters, aunts, and cousins
We all move in, taking part in the feast
My father and brothers, sons and nephews now bow to us
They respect us and we respect them
