letting go

One of the hardest things to do is letting go to see if there was anything to hold onto. Some times it seems as though you have to lose to gain. The Bible says the blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich and he addeth no sorrow with it. Why does it seem as though you lose when you gain? Anyone have any insight on this?
