• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hey everyone,

It’s been a while since I’ve reached out for help concerning my OCD,But I’ve found myself in a bad place again.

So as we all know,us Christians desire to please God,years ago when I first became a believer I felt this desire a lot.But now I don’t feel a desire to please God like in a way how a husband wants to do good and please his wife because he loves her,and I’m in a worry that I’m not born again.I don’t want to be displeasing to him because it shatters my heart to displease him when he has don’t nothing but Good for me.

Don’t get me wrong,I do love Jesus unconditionally, but I also worry I’m not obeying his commands to demonstrate my love for him.

I’m just very confused, and worried; If anyone has insight on how to help,I’d be so grateful

Are you nursing any pet sins? That would be my first question.
It’s hard for me to tell if it’s my ocd or Gods voice, but I constantly hear thoughts(not voices) telling me to do things a certain way,tit for tat things really and I ignore them because I think it’s my OCD,but I worry if I’m ignoring the Holy Spirit.

One struggle I do have is struggle with sexual sin,but not habitual and I make zero excuses for it,it’s not a constant thing nor a inappropriate contentographic enslavement, but that sin in general is one I struggle the most with.

But overall no sins I have any excuses for

OCD is a real condition and I know it can be hard to discern the spirits at times. Voices that rush us and hurry us and give us anxiety if we don't do things in a "correct" way and the mind makes up a bunch of rules for how we are to behave and act, usually those thoughts are just there to give us trouble. I too struggle with sexual sin only it is habitual and I am making excuses for it, so you're doing better than I am. Not inappropriate contentography though, that's something I have power over. It sounds like you're trying your best to follow God and His will for your life. That's not a bad thing, but even King David says in a psalm that he is like a weaned child before God. God sometimes withdraws His presence so that we learn to walk and act in Faith that He knows what He's doing and has His best intentions for us at heart. It may not seem like that when we are in the wilderness of our thoughts and trials.

I'm wondering if perhaps the OCD you struggle with is making you feel too weary to foster your relationship Christ. Remember, Christ isn't scared of your obsessions or compulsions. They're scared of how awesome He is.

Sincerely, someone at war with OCD.

@Blaise N,
  1. Are you still going to church?
  2. Have you brought this up with your pastor or prayer group??
  3. (If you are isolating yourself, you know how vulnerable you are to these attacks...)

He loves you as much as if you were the only person He made. He doesn't just love you, He likes you. He wants you to overcome this OCD. He wants you to lean on Him for help, and to do things that take care of yourself too. I'm here if you want to pm me
