Unfortunately the full paper seems behind a paywall, so all they have is this low-res coversheet in the mean time.

What do you mean? You can clearly see why he was arrested right there in the first paragraph.

:)

In all seriousness though I think I can make out that it says "Third Degree Domestic Violence".

Dr. Dino' faces tax charges

ORLANDO SENTINEL

PENSACOLA -- A Pensacola evangelist and owner of the city's defunct Dinosaur Adventure Land was arrested on charges of failing to pay $473,818 in taxes and making threats against investigators.

Kent Hovind, who calls himself "Dr. Dino" and claims that he is employed by God and owns no taxable property, has fought with the IRS for at least 17 years.

Hovind was arrested on 58 federal charges, including 44 jointly filed against his wife, Jo, for evading bank-reporting requirements when they withdrew $430,500 in 2001 and 2002. Kent Hovind, who appeared in court Thursday, said he did not understand why he was being prosecuted.

In the indictment, a grand jury alleged he failed to pay employee taxes at his Creation Science Evangelism/Ministry between 2001 and 2004. As part of the ministry, he operated Dinosaur Adventure Land, which included rides, a museum and a science center. The museum and science center, billed as a place "where dinosaurs and the Bible meet," was closed Friday.

That was from 2006.

The OP is something new. Not sure exactly what it is, but the words "domestic violence" seems to be in the article.

So this should be in the GOSSIP FORUM, right? (There isn’t one of those?)

I searched Google News and got bupkis. They had plenty on Hovind losing his lawsuit against Fed.gov.

What is your purpose in posting a blurred out blurb from a paywalled site?

Hovind is relatively well known in the C/E debate circles and was apparently arrested this past week.

That's about it, really.

Religion News Service:

An arrest warrant dated July 19 alleges that the Rev. Kent Hovind, known as “Dr. Dino,” intentionally threw his estranged wife, Cindi Lincoln, to the ground, causing bodily harm.

The same day the arrest warrant was filed, Lincoln also filed a petition for a protective order against Hovind in Conecuh County, Alabama. The petition alleges one of Hovind’s associates threatened Lincoln with a gun in January 2021.

After speaking with RNS, Hovind streamed a video on YouTube addressing the charges, saying he had been falsely accused.

“It’s going to be fine, it’s going to be fine,” he said. “I’m squeaky clean.”

He must be having career issues again. Needs something to liven up his media appearance to keep his name alive.

Is this the same as the "creation museum"? Or are there multiple creation museums? I wonder if this is separate from Ken Hams creation museum.

There are multiple. Hovind's original Dinosaur Adventure Land was in Florida. That one closed down, and Hovind has since opened a new one in Alabama.

The Answers in Genesis (Ken Ham) creation museum is in Kentucky, along with the Noah's Ark theme park.

That's interesting that ken Hams group runs the creation museum. The ark museum is a nightmare (giant gladiators battling dinosaurs in a Roman colosseum anyone?). I wonder what is in that creation museum. Well, if it's anything like the ark museum, maybe I don't want to know. The theology is truly atrocious.

Some update and much much much more.

In late 2020, he body-slammed [then third wife] Lincoln in their home, sending her to the emergency room, according to a protection order. Hovind also took an audio recording of the incident. The disturbing audio includes loud bangs and Lincoln’s screams while Hovind states, “What are you doing, Cindi? Why would you jump on me and grab me, Cindi?”

Lincoln said Hovind later distributed the audio as evidence for his claim that Lincoln is bipolar. In 2021, he was convicted of domestic violence in the incident. He denies that he was abusive, and is appealing the ruling.

While the court case pends, Lincoln is trying to recoup money she lost on the loan she made to DAL, which constituted most of her retirement savings. The church stopped repaying the loan after she left Hovind, she said.

---

Going back to wife #2.

Tocco left Hovind in 2017 [a year into the marriage]. In a Facebook post explaining the split, Tocco described her increasingly frustrated efforts to ensure her husband and DAL’s finances were “above-board.” “It wasn’t long before I began noticing certain things that didn’t seem to add up. My list of concerns started slowly, and then began to grow,” she wrote. She claimed that when she brought her concerns to the DAL board, she was rebuffed. (Reached for comment, Tocco directed The Daily Beast to her Facebook statements.)

---

But the lede of the story is:

Preacher Accused of Enabling Pedophile at Creationist ‘Dino’ Theme Park

Ex-residents of the theme park—where a child drowned in 2020—say a man convicted of playing strip poker with young boys brought a child to the park and shared a bed with him.

Six Italian scientists and a government official have been sentenced to six years in prison over statements they made prior to a 2009 earthquake that killed 309 in the town of L'Aquila.

SOURCE

Wow. You throw out (10-year-old) chaff to distract from a creep like Kent Hovind. I thought you had better standards.

Yeah, but they were scientists.

And? No-one ever said that scientists were infallible.

In the previous decade, Kent Hovind has been treated as infallible by those who accept his claims on here. Though honestly I'd just thought he'd died when everyone stopped talking about him.
