In search of: Senior Pastor

My church is currently looking for a pastor to lead our congregation. Over the past five months both our senior and associate pastors have resigned their positions due to personal and professional decisions. My church is a strong congregation that has pushed forward, but we are in need of man of God to light our path. Below please find some basic information about our town and church.

City: Deer Park, Texas (Southeast suburb of Houston)

Population: Approximately 35,000

Median income: Approximately $80,000

Median age: 39

Almost 80% of our population is under 55

Deer Park is located on the Houston Ship Channel. Many of our residents work in the local refineries, education, health care, manufacturing, and technology.

About the church:

Name: First Baptist Church of Deer Park

Established: 1934

Services: We offer Sunday morning and afternoon services as well as Wednesday evening services.

Staff: We currently have experienced office staff, an established music minister, a strong youth pastor, a new and exciting children’s minister, and large group of dedicated deacons.

Missions: We participate in a wide variety of missions. We support multiple international missionaries, prison ministries, local ministries, international ministry boards, holiday ministries, and we run a small food bank.

News: We recently added on to our existing church. We added dozens of new classrooms, two new libraries, and a new nursery area to accommodate our quickly expanding young families population.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for an experienced pastor who knows he is nothing without Jesus Christ. We are looking for someone who can guide experienced Christians in their walk with Christ and bring non believing visitors into the beauty that is God’s family.

I have been a member of First Baptist Church of Deer Park for 36 years. My wife, son, and I recently lost my daughter. The support and love that was given to us by this church overwhelms me to this day and I will not see it falter. I know it seems disconcerting that we have lost both our associate and senior pastor. I can guarantee you that it is not a reflection of the church body. One resigned to take on a smaller role at a different church and the other recently experience great personal loss. The church leadership has asked the congregation to reach out to potential candidates. In no way is a response to this post a guarantee of employment.

You may contact me at John.B.Story@gmail.com or First Baptist Church of Deer Park at 281-479-2391 with questions or resume submissions. Thank you and please keep my church in your prayers.

Acts 20:28
Are you looking for a CEO or a pastor? Being a pastor is not a job someone applies for but a calling from God. I expect that you will not even consider a man unless he has a masters from a seminary and experience "running" a church. If you are looking for a man who wants a job you will get what you ask for. Sad.

BTW, God's men do not send in resumes they wait on the Lord to place them in the congregation that He has prepared for them and him for them.

I dont know how this works but if its an experienced pastor needed what will happen to the flock hes already pastoring...? If he leaves another church, they will need a new pastor as well....?

But sure can pray for your church. Remember Jesus is the head of the church and we all in the priesthood of believers. Our church pastor lost his wife, gone to be with the Lord but hes still pastoring. God will send you someone.

If your church would look, my guess is that there's someone already in the congregation who can fill the need. But you won't find him if you put unnecessary and unbiblical requirements in the way.
That is commonly the case. God has raised up and equipped a man in the congregation for them. But He may have another man that he has prepared for His people. We ought to pray that the Lord will open the eyes of His people to whomever He sends to them and not worry about his credentials. At the same time they certainly ought to check out any man thouroughly
before they call him as their pastor. Not his credentials but those who know him, his credit history and any other pastors who are familiar with him. Satan often sets up his minions as ministers of righteousness, 2Cor. 11:15

Think letter to Timothy shows the requirements to be a minister in the church.
Husband with one wife, able to rule his household effectively, and also, knowing scriptures from a young age. Also, sober, and the wife must not be a gossip!

When my church needed a new youth pastor/associate they found one he was living in another town but had gone to our church in his youth and his family grew up here, so they moved back.
